After starting CLEANhomes in 2006 with a mission to reduce energy consumption in homes, Shamlin spent over 10,000 hours researching and developing homes that would reduce energy bills by up to 75%. His dedication to making homes more energy-efficient led to the creation of homes that were verified to be 75-96% more energy-efficient than traditional homes.

In 2019, Shamlin and his team achieved market parity with energy-efficient homes, ensuring that high-performance homes could be built at prices competitive with standard construction. Today, Shamlin is committed to spreading his vision of energy-efficient homes through his book, The Clean Standard, and through his company, CLEANhomes.
